What makes a good logo?

It is recognisable small, on a browser tab, and large, on the side of a bus. It works in black and white, and it does not follow a trend that will be outdated in two years.

The logo is the smallest element of the brand, and the one seen most often. That is why it starts from strategy, not from an idea.

The logo in practice

We always show the logo in application: on a business card, on the website, as a social media profile picture, on a vehicle, on packaging. This way it becomes clear during design where it does not work, not at the printer.

On request, a complete visual identity is created alongside the logo: colours, typefaces, graphic elements, brand guidelines.

How a logo is made

Five steps, starting from strategy, not from an idea.

research

Market, competitors, the brand's values.

What the others say, and where there is an empty space the logo can occupy.

sketches

Several directions, each with a rationale.

We do not decide on taste, but on which one says exactly what the brand wants to say.

refinement

Developing the chosen direction in two rounds: proportions, type, colour.

Meanwhile we check it in application: on a browser tab, on a business card, on a vehicle.

variants

Colour and black and white, icon, horizontal and vertical layouts.

Every size and background gets a variant that stays legible.

handover

In vector and pixel files, for print and web.

Plus usage rules, so the logo appears the same way everywhere.

What files you get

The logo files we hand over. Every variant in colour, black and white and inverted versions.

From logo to visual identity

The logo is the beginning: the colours, typefaces, graphic elements, photo style and the look of the website all come from the same system. The brand guidelines define how your team and the printer use it.

Who owns the logo?

You do, together with the usage rights, as set out in the contract. We hand over the final files and the open source files as well.

If you would like to register it as a trademark, we prepare the files and the description for that too.
